XBOX 360 Picks for 2010

Well folks its that wonderful time of the year once again; it seriously does not feel like Christmas is in two days, perhaps as you get older it doesn’t truly feel the same anymore, but that is how I feel.

Now I am sure there are a bunch of you who are scurrying around trying to find last minute gift ideas. If you have a gamer in the family or a friend who is a gamer and owns an XBOX 360 well then perhaps this list is for you….

This year has been phenomenal for the gaming industry in general, not just for 360 but for all major platforms, to games from God of War 3 to the long awaited Star Craft 2: Wings of Liberty. However for the purposes of this entry we shall be looking at 360 games.

And just a reminder, these games may go on sale come boxing day!

There have been a lot of great games to come out for the 360 but these are my picks for this year!

1: Red Dead Redemption
This game has you assuming the role of one time outlaw John Marston. This isn’t just Grand Theft Auto in the wild wild west, this world is absolutely amazing and breathtaking to behold. In my opinion its the best game of this year! With a gripping story and a great cast of characters, you shall definitely enjoy this one! Not too mention as well, there is online multiplayer so you can beat the snot of people all around the world. And before I forget there is plenty of DLC (Downloadable Content) for this game. If you do happen to get this and download content, look for the Undead Nightmare pack, and I guarantee you shall not be disappointed!

2. Halo: Reach
This game has to be on the list! This is the final game in the series and is (in my opinion) the best. With the purchase of this, it is like you get two games instead of one. On the one side you get the best Halo story and on the other you have an amazing and robust multiplayer with so many options and features that it should be on a second disc. You will not be disappointed if you make this purchase!

3. Call of Duty: Black Ops
Now what gaming list is complete without the newest entry from publisher’s Activision? I have stated this several times and I will say it again, this is the most complete Call of Duty game to date! There are a few things here and there that I do miss from Modern Warfare 2, but this game is loaded with features that it is barely noticeable. It will be interesting to see what Modern Warfare 3 looks like…if it comes out next year…

4. Splinter Cell: Conviction
Sam Fisher finally made his triumphant return to the world of gaming this year after long delays in development. Dashed aside are the days when you would skulk around in corridors and were forced to hide bodies from detection. Now you are a man who has lost everything and has only one desire…vengeance! The long wait was worth it, as this game was beautiful to look at, and the gameplay blended fast action with stealth. A great combination made for a great game!

5. Mass Effect 2
I will be totally honest here and I shall never leave you astray. I have never played a Mass Effect game ever but have heard so many great things about them. This game was released earlier in the year and was received extremely well. This game is probably one of the best RPG games created to date and has a very strong following. A trailer has just been released for the next installment, which I am sure fans will be looking forward to.

Honourable mentions:
Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood
Transformers: War for Cybertron
Fable 3
Fallout 3
Alan Wake
NBA 2K11
FIFA 2011
